Here's my chess set made entirely of found objects
It began when I found the most gorgeous paper-covered, chessboard-sized piece of acrylic in a skip
The pieces are, for the most part, made of bottlecaps and corks. Overall it took 38 bottlecaps, 14 wine corks and an assortment of nuts, bolts, nails, wooden bingo chips, an acrylic rod (also from a skip), and 16 broken toy compasses
I'm particularly fond of the queens
The pieces are rusted by brushing on a concoction of water, impasto gel, and iron filings then soaked for a few hours in a mix of water, salt and vinegar and they continue to rust as time goes by
